Ite et rupem illam* - Translation of St Benedict no 1 (1962)

R. Ite, / et rupem illam, in qua tres super se ínvicem pósitas petras invenéritis, in módico caváte: * Valet enim omnípotens Deus in illo montis vértice aquam prodúcere.
V. Qui eúntes, rupem montis, quam Benedíctus praedíxerat, † iam sudántem invenérunt.
R. Valet enim omnípotens Deus in illo montis vértice aquam prodúcere.
R. Go your way to the rock, and in the place where you find three stones laid one on another, dig a little hole, * for almighty God is able to bring forth water from the heights of that mountain.
V. Away they went, and came to the rock which Benedict had predicted, sweating drops of water.
V. For almighty God is able to bring forth water from the heights of that mountain.
