Notes on chant sources for the feasts of SS Maurus and Placid (October 5)

SS Maurus and Placid have, alas, been the subject of a lot of rationalist revisionism in the twentieth century.

St Placid and his companions were previously celebrated as martyrs, but this was abolished on the grounds that his story was confused with that of a much earlier martyr of the same name.  Similarly, St Maurus' later history in France was also rejected as a fabrication by some.

The 1962 calendar therefore combined the two feasts on the day that was previously allocated to St Placid, and used texts for it that centre on incidents recorded in St Gregory's Dialogues.

The 1975 calendar shifted the feast to January 15; the Clear Creek supplement to the Antiphonale however retains two separate feasts, with St Maurus in January, so does not provide texts for the combined feast.

I've listed what sources I can find below.
